A dialogue between you and your friend on adverse effects of environmental pollution--
Nusrat : Hi, Tina! How are you?
Tina : I'm fine. And what about you?
Nusrat : I'm also fine. Have you noticed that many people are being affected by various kinds of diseases in our country? Newspapers report that many children have been hospitalised for some peculiar problems.
Tina : Yes, all these are happening due to environment pollution.
Nusrat : Can you tell me the reasons of environmental pollutions?
Tina : Environmental pollution occurs for various reasons. You see, thousands of cars and vehicles ply on the city streets and they emit smoke with carbon-die-oxide, carbon mon- oxide and many other harmful gases. These smoke and gases mix with water and pollute it.
Nusrat : Air is an important element of our environment. So, we must take some effective measures to stop polluting air.
Tina : I think you're right. Many measures are taken to minimise air pollution. But we cannot implement them fully because population is increasing rapidly. With the increase of population the number of vehicles, mills and factories is increasing. All these things pollute the environment.
Nusrat : I think our water is also getting polluted which is another important element of our environment.
Tina : Sure. Launch and steamers run through our rivers and canals and they pollute water by throwing many oils into the water. Moreover, farmers use chemical fertilizers and they get mixed the river and pollute water.
Nusrat : Can't we stop water pollution?
Tina : We can reduce the rate of water pollution but not completely stop it.
Nusrat : We can make people aware of the harmful aspects of environmental pollution.
Tina : You're right and thank you, Nusrat.
Nusrat :Thank you too.
