A road accident took place at New Market in broad day light the day before yesterday. I was very close to the spot of the accident when it happened. I saw an eighteen year old student crossing the road in front of Dhaka College when a speedy bus ran over him killing him at once. I rushed to the spot and took the dead body with the help of some other people to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital. It was very shocking to me. I could not bear to watch the scene. A group of students gathered on the spot and shouted angry slogans against the bus driver demanding serious punishment. Afterwards I came back in the hostel with a sad heart.

Road Accident

At present, road accidents have become a common occurrence in Bangladesh. A few days ago, a tragic accident happened before my eyes. A boy was crossing the road near Devidwar Women's College. A bus was coming at full speed from the opposite direction. Suddenly I saw the boy running across the road. But the bus lost control and crushed him. The bus stopped with a loud noise. A crowd rushed to the spot. I ran to the boy in the blink of an eye, and found him unconscious. There was blood on the road. I took the injured boy to an auto and asked the driver to go to Upazila Health Complex. There the doctors and nurses took care of him. But sadly he died there. I couldn't bear to see the scene. I returned home with a heavy heart.

Road accident is a crash that occurs on a road. It may happen when a vehicle is in collision with another vehicle. Sometimes, road accident occurs when a vehicle falls into a roadside ditch or turns turtle. However, road accident is a common phenomenon in Bangladesh. It occurs for some specific reasons. Reckless driving contributes to most of the accidents. The drivers drive their motorized vehicles at breakneck speed. Sometime they lose control over steering that leads to accidents. Violation of traffic rules also causes road accidents. Inadequate traffic rules and inefficient traffic policemen are, sometimes, responsible for road accidents. Narrow roads create hindrances to the smooth movement of vehicles that cause accidents. Overloaded transports are al the cause of accidents. Mechanical failures, including faulty brakes and bald tyres, also result in fatal accidents. A road accident is considered a curse. It causes enormous losses including major and minor injury psychological trauma, disability and even death to the victims. It also causes material losses including waste of money for treatment of the victims and repairing the vehicles. Undoubtedly, the effects of road accident leave a lasting impact on the individuals and their family. In the long run, a road accident affects the country's national economy. So, the government must enforce a strict law for road communication sector and take stern steps to check accidents that claim thousands of lives a year.

Road Accident

A road accident has become a daily affair in our country. We see the news of road accidents almost everyday in daily newspapers. It was about 4 pm while I witnessed a serious road accident yesterday near the Victoria Park. I was returning from school. I was very close to the spot of the accident when it happened. I saw a boy crossing the busy road in front of the National Medical College Hospital. He had just moved to the middle of the road when, all on a sudden, a speedy truck came on and knocked him down. I ran to the boy in the twinkle of an eye. I thought he was dead. Thanks Allah, he was not. He lay senseless with the shock and received wound in his left leg. With the help of some passer-by, I took the boy to the hospital. There the doctors and the nurses took every possible care of the boy. In the meantime, the agitated people caught the driver of the truck and beat him mercilessly. Then they handed over him to the police. I was anxiously awaiting for the recovery of the boy. It was about 8 pm the boy opened his eyes and looked around. Then I took the phone number of his father and informed him of the accident. Then I returned to my residence. It was the first road accident I have ever experienced in my life. I couldn't sleep at all that night. In fact it was a great harrowing experience in my life.
