The 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup was the seventh ICC Men's T20 World Cup tournament. The tournament was hosted jointly by the United Arab Emirates and Oman from 17 October to 14 November 2021. A total of 16 countries including Bangladesh participate in the tournament. There were two phases- Qualifying Round and Super 12 round.

To play the Super 12 round, the 12 teams were divided into two groups in which the teams played among themselves. From Group 1, England and Australia proceeded  to the semi-finals while Pakistan and New Zealand from Group 2. In the first semi-final, New Zealand beat England by 5 wickets and in the 2nd Semi-final, Australia met Pakistan and won by 5 wickets and became the second finalist of the tournament. Eventually, the two finalists- New Zealand and Australia encountered on 14 November 16, 2021 in Dubai. In the final match, Australia won the toss and elected to field first. The New Zealand team scored 172 runs which Australia managed to beat to clinch their first T20 World Cup.

Mitchell Marsh was named the Player of the Match, with David warner being named the Player of the Tournament. In the entire tournament, the highest personal score was 101 (not out) by Jos Buttler while the most runs were scored by Babar Azam ( 303 runs ). Of the 526 taken wickets, Wannindu Hasaranga dismissed 16 batsmen. Whereas the highest innings score was 210 by India, the most runs had been collected in the match between England and South Africa ( 368 runs ). 405 sixes were hit in all 45 matches and the best win percentage belonged to the world cup winner Australia ( 87.7% ).

To recapitulate, the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup was one of the sources of quality entertainments for the sports lover during the COVID pandemic, even though, the performance of the Bangladesh Team was very poor this time. They won only two matches against Oman and Papua New Guinea. The successful completion of the tournament has proved that no pandemic or disaster can surpass and submerge the ability of human beings and their attempts to keep the courses of the life alive.
